PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Greetings!

The clocks have moved ahead and Spring is closer than ever! I know I'm sure enjoying the later daylight hours and I'm sure you all are too.

By now, most of you have seen APHA's rule change effective for 2025 allowing SPB horses to show in the regular APHA classes. This is a big move for the association with many varying opinions floating around on this decision. Short term benefits will be fewer classes and divisions on our showbill and maybe some larger classes at our shows. The longer term impact on the breed will remain to be seen.

Our first show is just a little over 2 months away and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone after a winter away from our OPHC family. If you have any suggestions or ideas for the upcoming season, please contact a director and share! We bring all suggestions and correspondence to the table at our board meetings.

All the 2024 special events are listed on the OPHC website for you to check out. It's shaping up to be a fun filled season!

Until next time,
Liz
